Aiding the homeless in Tumpat

We would like to shine a spotlight on the Lotus’s Kota Bahru team for going above and beyond in their community outreach work.

In early July 2021, the Kota Bahru team found a homeless family consisting of a father and his three young children who were sadly living in an abandoned construction site in Tumpat, a district in Kota Bharu. After speaking to the man, the team found out that he has unfortunately lost his job because of the pandemic and subsequently, their rental home. To make things even worst, his children were undocumented because of existing reasons.

The Kota Bahru team initially stumbled upon the family when they were out distributing the Kotak Prihatin, but upon finding out their situation, decided that the family needed more than food and essentials. They managed to work with a local non-governmental organization (NGO), [NAME OF NGO], to provide the family a place to stay and even pillows and mattresses which were gratefully accepted.

The team and the NGO are also working with together to get proper documentation for the children.

Well done Kota Bahru team on your fantastic community outreach.
